I believe that birth is a normal, physiologic process that is best facilitated when the mother feels supported. Your pregnancy and birth should be filled with peace and joy, and not with tension and fear. Women should never be pressured into procedures they aren’t comfortable with. Babies deserve a gentle entrance into this world.
Here at Verkley Midwifery, I believe in supporting moms and families. Your body, your baby, your choices. I will do my best to provide whatever support is needed to help you feel safe, heard and supported. My mission is to help all moms and families feel empowered by their birth experiences. Women’s bodies are designed to give birth, and a midwife is there to protect that process.
There is a prevalent saying in the midwifery world:
“A midwife has skilled hands and knows when to sit on them.”
I work to live up to that saying. I prefer to let the natural pregnancy and birth process go undisturbed, but I am not afraid to step in when I am needed. All of the care that you receive from me throughout your journey will be collaborative. I work with you to ensure that you have a healthy pregnancy, a safe birth, and a peaceful postpartum.
